NYX - Glam Shadow Stick Review

NYX Glam Shadow Sticks left to right in
"Luminous Crystal" and "Pink Ruby"

NYX’s products have always been a hit or miss with the public and the glam shadow sticks are no exception. Anybody who has tried these eye shadows would understand why I was disappointed. Before I mention the disappointments I will start with the triumphs. Firstly the price is only $4.50 in America ($9.99 AUD) and there are 16 beautiful shades to choose from. Sadly this is where the triumphs end because there is no point having these beautiful shades if they don’t do their intended job properly. Before buying these I did a swatch test on my hand with great results, they were highly pigmented, easy to use and seemingly lots of product.
Swatch of how the colours were originally supposed to be.
"Luminous Crystal" (Top) and "Pink Ruby" (Bottom)

I bought two shades: luminous crystal, which was a silver shade, and pink ruby, which was a rose gold shade. The next day I tried on pink ruby only to find that it creased more than any other eye product I had ever used. I also found it took several swipes for the colour to actually transfer onto my eyelid and when the product was finally on, it moved and separated. Hoping that it was only that stick that did it rather than all of the other sticks, I put luminous crystal on the other lid and surprise surprise, the same thing happened. The Glam Shadow Sticks also didn’t blend with one another either. I then decided that eye primer would fix the problem only to find that it actually made it worse. The highly pigmented colour I had swatched on my hand was nowhere to be seen because with the eye primer, there was hardly any colour at all. It seemed that I was using half the stick to get a feeble amount of colour and the colour also moved around more than ever. The only thing I could recommend these Glam Shadows Sticks for is by using them in the inner corners of your eyes, where it doesn’t seem to crease so much. I later looked on the website to find that the pink ruby stick was meant to be fully pink and not the gold colour I had bought, so even the colour they had put on the website was inaccurate. For the amount of product you have to use to even get a weak result isn’t worth the purchase and you would be best suited to try other shadow sticks shadows that aren’t the NYX brand.
